  • Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song from a contemporary musical (1990 or later) or from another Alan Menken musical/movie/show.

  • Keep in mind the character/show you are auditioning for and do your best to sing in the same style.

  • Singing from the show is totally acceptable.

  • You will need to bring in sheet music in the appropriate key for the accompanist.

  • Singing a cappella or with a track will not be permitted.

  • Please make sure your sheet music has a clearly marked beginning and ending point with clear directions for the accompanist (tempo changes, key changes, etc.).

Bring your headshot and resumé. If you don’t have one, no worries - we will have a form you can fill out, and someone to take your picture onsite. If you'd like to fill out the form in advance, you can download it by clicking here.

If you are auditioning for a dancing role (see breakdown here), please bring dance shoes if you have them (if not, sneakers will work) and wear or bring clothes you can freely move in.

A note on casting -

We will be casting both male and female newsies. Everyone auditioning to be a newsie will have to attend both the singing and dancing portion of the audition. While all newsies will be required to do some dance, we will have separate “mover/singer” and “dancer” newsies. So, if you feel you are stronger in singing but nervous about difficult dancing, or confident in dance, but less sure about singing, please still audition!
